Ballet Classes (Teen through Adult)
Start here if you’ve never studied ballet
Absolute Beginner Ballet introduces ballet to students who have never studied ballet before, or returning students who haven’t studied ballet since childhood, or some other stretch of time away from the barre. Taught by Natalie Rast, this 90 minute class starts with barre work then proceeds to the floor, similar to all traditional ballet classes.
Natalie excels at making ballet fun, and creating a supportive environment particularly for adults who’ve always been interested but never gave themselves the opportunity to study dance. Even though the class is fun, she believes in good technique and eagerly works with all students of varying skill levels to help them improve their form and technique.
Adult Ballet 1 continues the study of ballet for students who attend class regularly and are ready to improve their turnout and technique. Class assumes that you’re familiar with the basic vocabulary of ballet (be it from outside experience or from having taken enough Adult Absolute Beginning Ballet classes). The dancer should be able to recognize the barre exercises by name and be able to execute simple combinations of steps. The eight body positions will be studied thoroughly in this class.
Similar in focus as Adult Ballet 1, Ballet 2 incorporates additional barre and floor work routines that class participants can easily follow, so that work can be done to improve form. If you’re unsure if you should attend, please contact Natalie at 773-419-4487 or firstname.lastname@example.org and she’ll be happy to help you decide. One should be familiar with the eight body positions.
